Privacy Policy
The American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter (SEPA) website is intended to serve as a tool to inform our public constituency about our organization, activies, programs, and services. We value the support that the public provides for the mission of the Red Cross by visiting our website and telling others about it. In the course of providing this online service, information is exchanged between the web servers, online users, and their browsers. In some places on this site you may be asked to list your name, address, and other information if you wish to participate in an e-mail list or apply for available opportunities. Our policy with regards to your personal information is listed below.
Browser Information
If you visit our site to read or download information, we may collect and store the following general information in order to analyze trends, gather broad demographic information, and monitor site traffic patterns that can help us further develop and improve the design and functionality of our site your computer's IP address, browser type, and operating system, the date and time you access our site, the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site, the search terms used in connecting to our site, and the various pages that you visit while on our site. SEPA will not use disseminate this information to the general public.
Personally Identifiable Information
SEPA will not collect any personally identifiable information about you, such as your name, email address, credit card or other information, unless we explicitly request the information and you choose to provide it. If such information is collected, it may be shared within our organization for the purposes of responding to any comments or questions you submit and to provide any follow-up information about our organization. It also may be shared with an outside organization only to fulfill any request you have made to us, such as charging donations to your credit card. Otherwise, we will not sell, rent, share or disclose personally identifiable information with any commercial entities, marketing firms or non-profit entities.
SEPA does not enable cookies or use other software or hardware techniques to collect personally identifiable information on visitors to our site without their knowledge. However, please be aware that our online partners who provide certain features related to the web site, such as www.redcross.org and www.pleasegiveblood.org, are not maintained by SEPA and may employ different privacy policies regarding cookies and other software and hardware techniques.
Users who sign up for our e-mail lists will receive regular communications that are explained on the sign-up page for each list. Each list will provide information on how to unsubscribe to this service.
Publicly Sharing Your Comments
SEPA often receives information from website visitors who have successfully participated in our programs and/or used our resources. In certain instances, we would like to publicly share the comments and stories we receive by posting this information on our website. We will not, however, publicly share ANY information we receive on our website without first receiving the express consent of the individual who submitted the information. Furthermore, we will not post information in any way that specifically identifies the sender of that information unless the sender approves it.
Other Security Measures
We want to provide our supporters with a secure experience whether they are browsing for information, making a donation, registering for a course, or applying for a position. While transmissions made via the Internet cannot be absolutely secure, we will use all reasonable means to safeguard the privacy of your personal information. Our technical security measures include using industry standard 128bit encryption to secure the transfer of data between your browser and our servers. When our forms ask users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number), that information is encrypted and is protected with one of the best encryption methods in the industry today, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). While on a secure page, such as our donation form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just 'surfing'.
Policy revisions
SEPA reserves the right to amend this privacy policy from time to time. If we make any substantial changes in the way we use your personally identifiable information, we will notify you by posting an announcement on our pages and we will provide you with an opportunity to request that such information not be used in that manner. Personally identifiable information will be subject to the protections of the privacy policy in place at the time the information is obtained.
