Donating a car in New Mexico is easy, fast and free. When you donate a car your car pick-up is done quickly, often within one business day. You can donate a car, boat or RV in New Mexico regardless of its condition.

When you donate a car to charity in the state of New Mexico, your car donation will allow you to claim a tax deduction through the charity’s tax classification with the IRS. Donating a car directly to charity is the best way to ensure that you can claim your vehicle as a tax deduction.  Besides that, donating a car directly to charity is the only way to be sure that the proceeds of the sale of your car donation go directly to the charity.

When you are ready to donate your car, boat or RV in the state of New Mexico you will need the title to the vehicle you intend to donate. If you do not have the title papers you can apply for a replacement title. Applying for a replacement title must be done prior to donating the vehicle. You can visit the New Mexico Department of Motor Vehicles to obtain the necessary forms in order to donate your vehicle. New Mexico requires that all passenger vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, motor homes, trailers, ATVs and snowmobiles all have titles. Your title serves as proof of ownership.

When you are ready to donate your car, boat or RV, in order to properly transfer title you must release ownership by signing on line 10, section 1 on the back of the title. Should there be a lien on the vehicle, New Mexico requires that the lien holder sign on the back of the title under the third reassignment section. New Mexico requires that you remove your license plates of your car donation before donating it. You may transfer the plates to another vehicle you own within thirty days or return them to the New Mexico Department of Motor Vehicles to be cancelled.
