Why should I donate to the Redcross?
The American Red Cross, existing as a leading humanitarian organization providing emergency assistance, disaster relief and education both within and outside the U.S., has started a donation option that gives people wheels. Well, not just wheels alone. What the Red Cross is now currently undergoing is the warm welcoming of new and used vehicle donations. Under the Vehicle Donation Program, which is a year-round fundraiser, many individuals and families have been, or soon will be, given the gift of an automobile.
But now, you're curious as to what the process involves, especially since you have a vehicle you'd like to donate. More or less, it's quite simple. Before anything, you should call your local Red Cross and inquire whether or not they offer this donation service. Once this is certain you have to qualify. Qualifying here is all about the vehicle of donating interest. It must have four inflated tires, a set of keys, a clear title, no legal complications (such as a lien) and if it's manufactured before 1992, it must be in working, driveable condition.
As far as actually donating a vehicle is concerned, there is an online form that can be filled out and submitted accordingly. Once this is done and your application is accepted, the vehicle can then be dropped off at a specific location or it can be picked up from your own residence, at your scheduled convenience. It's really that easy.
It seems almost too simple too, especially considering that it's a great deed to follow through with. But, the benefits are completely there. And, to your added advantage as a vehicle donor, you'll receive an acknowledgement letter as well as a tax receipt within a 2 week span of your actual donation.
