Donating a car in Rhode Island is easy, fast and free. When you donate your car, pick-up is done quickly, often within one business day. You can donate a car, boat or RV in the state of  Rhode Island regardless of its condition.

When you donate a car in the state of Rhode Island, your car donation will allow you to claim a tax deduction through the charity’s tax classification with the IRS. In order to release liability of your vehicle donation, the state of Rhode Island you will need to bring the license plates of the vehicle donation and registration card to your local branch of the Rhode Island Motor Vehicle Department. Upon submitting the aforementioned you will receive a signed cancellation form from the Motor Vehicle Department stating the date the plates were canceled. Keep this receipt for your personal records.

As stated above, the state of  Rhode Island requires the license plates of your vehicle donation to be surrendered to a local branch of the Rhode Island Motor Vehicle Department.
