The Benefits of Solar Power Generation
Solar power generation can be something as simple as windows, sunrooms, skylights that allow the sun to heat and light buildings or homes with natural lighting. Solar power generation is made when the heat and light from the sun are produced by .

Photovoltaic cells convert sunlight directly into electricity. These cells are usually made from silicon. When sunlight hits a solar cell, energy knocks off electrons allowing them to flow freely which results in direct current. Concentration systems use mirrors to focus on the sun’s energy. Steam is used to generateelectricity and this is done by the sunlight heating water or transferring fluid.

Portable solar power generation can be used to charge cell phones, lights and even GPS systems and we are all familiar with the solar powered calculator. Portable solar power could be very useful in first aid kits. There wouldn’t be the worry of having something battery operated and when you need it the most, the battery dies. The attention that solar power is getting is allowing products to be manufactured that can be very useful to us.

In 2008, solar power that was generated had the potential to provide over a thousand times world energy consumption, but only provided 0.02 percent. This shows that solar power generation has the ability to provide us with a substantial amount of energy, yet we are not using it to its fullest ability. Solar power is asustainable and renewable resource. It could very well be used to power our vehicles in the future.

In 2008, the North American Solar Challenge took place. It was on a route between Dallas, Texas and Calgary, Alberta. Solar powered vehicles that were designed, built and tested by colleges and universities would use their solar powered vehicles in a long distance race. This could put a bigger focus on how we could use this for our cars today. While there may need to be some adjustments, such as how long the solar energy could last, this would be a great way for us to save on gas prices that are being raised.

Solar power generation has been shown to have numerous uses. The sun is always shining somewhere in the world. The good thing about it is that the sun’s energy can be stored until we need it. This would be great for the days where it is extremely cloudy or overcastted.
